Switzerland has always been one of the destinations I dreamed of experiencing—and I was fortunate enough to see it in two completely different seasons: spring and winter.
The country remained breathtaking in both seasons, but each visit gave me a different perspective. It felt as though I had visited two versions of the same destination.
Switzerland in spring
My spring experience showed me Switzerland as it slowly came back to life. The temperature was cool and comfortable, the landscapes were beginning to turn green, and traces of snow could still be seen in the mountains. There was something peaceful about watching the seasons change before my eyes.
Spring made Switzerland feel calm and refreshing. It was the perfect season for walking, appreciating the scenery, and exploring without the intense cold of winter. The atmosphere felt relaxed, and every view looked like a postcard—quiet towns, beautiful mountains, clear skies, and the clean surroundings Switzerland is known for.
This season allowed me to appreciate the country’s natural beauty in a softer and more colorful way. It reminded me that traveling is not always about rushing from one attraction to another. Sometimes, the most meaningful experiences come from slowing down, observing your surroundings, and simply being present.

Switzerland in winter
Winter, however, gave me an entirely different experience. Seeing the Swiss Alps covered in snow was unforgettable. The mountains looked more dramatic, the air felt colder and sharper, and the entire landscape appeared almost unreal. It was the kind of scenery that photographs could never fully capture.
The cold weather was challenging at times, but it was also part of what made the journey special. Wearing layers, walking through snowy surroundings, and standing before the majestic mountains made me appreciate the experience even more.
Winter transformed Switzerland into a peaceful wonderland. Everything felt quieter and more cinematic. It was a season that made me feel both humbled and grateful—humbled by the scale and beauty of nature, and grateful that traveling had brought me to such an incredible place.
“Some destinations are beautiful in photographs, while others must truly be experienced. Switzerland is one of them.”
One country, two different experiences
Experiencing Switzerland in spring and winter taught me that the season can completely change the character of a destination. Spring was refreshing, colorful, and peaceful. Winter was dramatic, magical, and unforgettable.
If you prefer comfortable weather, greener scenery, and relaxed sightseeing, spring may be the perfect time to visit. If you dream of snow-covered mountains, winter landscapes, and a more cinematic experience, then Switzerland during winter is worth experiencing.
For me, choosing between the two would be difficult. Each season offered something unique, and together, they gave me a deeper appreciation of Switzerland.
More than just a destination
As the CEO and Managing Director of The Civis Escape Travel and Tours, I believe personal travel experience is important. Visiting destinations firsthand allows me to understand what travelers may encounter—from the weather and transportation to the pace, atmosphere, and overall experience.
Switzerland reminded me why I chose to build a business around travel. It is not only about collecting passport stamps or visiting famous places. It is about discovering new perspectives, creating lasting memories, and returning home with stories that stay with you.
I experienced Switzerland in two seasons, but both journeys left me with the same feeling: Switzerland is a destination that must truly be experienced.
